Website Content Submission Process
St. Leander School welcomes suggestions and submissions for new content on the school website. All materials should be ready for publication prior to submission to the school office in accordance submission procedures and styling requirements detailed below. New content may be sent via email or provided on media such as CD and DVD’s. Submissions must be in a Mac compatible format. We endeavor to have routine materials posted within 24 hours and uncomplicated new content within 48 hours.
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
To ensure conformity with school and diocesan requirements, the following procedure will be enforced for new material submissions:
If the new submission material includes pictures, the material must be first submitted to the school office to ensure conformity with privacy policies.
Submissions containing graphical content (e.g., pictures, art, etc.) will be reviewed by the office before passing on to the school principal.
Submissions that do not include pictures (e.g., text-only) can be submitted directly to the school principal. School principal will approve or reject the submission.
If material is not approved, the author or originator will be advised and can, if they so choose, submit a revised version.
For submissions that do not contain graphical content and do
not require style changes to the website…
Upon approval of the school principal, webmaster will publish the new content on the website.
For submissions involving graphics or website style changes, the webmaster will work with the person having website design oversight in order to incorporate the change…
Webmaster will utilize a non-public version of the website to “beta test” the new material, style, etc.
The oversight person will review the beta test version of the modified
website and approve or reject the changes
Upon securing approval of the modified website, the webmaster will re-publish the website on the publicly accessible website.
SUBMISSION STYLE, CONTENT, & ATTACHMENTS
In order to ensure consistency in the look and feel of the website, all submissions must conform to the following content guidelines:
Style
Font = Verdana Bold is default font. No restrictions on color, italics, etc.
Apple Pages, Numbers, Etc. – Evaluations are underway to see how well (and easily) these features translate to the website. This document will be modified upon completion of evaluation.
Content & Attachments
Word – Most regular Word documents work great. Really complicated formatting may have to be converted to show properly on web site. John Hall will make that determination.
Excel – Works fine, however, most if not all web browsers will download the file rather than allow viewing on the web page.
PDF - Works fine, however many web browsers will download the file rather than allow viewing on the web page.
Pictures - JPEG format, reduced in size to accommodate slower connections. All pictures must be reviewed by the school office, prior to submission for parental consent. Names of all students must be provided so they can be checked against parental approval forms in the office. No student’s names should be listed for purposes of publication with the pictures.
Movies – iMovie, QuickTime only. All movies must be
converted to these formats. There are many free converters available. All movies must be reviewed by the
school office, prior to submission for parental approval. Names of all students
must be provided.
