From the Principal’s Office

January’s CLEAR Focus:  We Are Committed Christians.

Dear Families,

The faculty and staff wish to thank the Room Parents who prepared such a delicious lunch for us on Monday! We enjoyed homemade frittata, pastries, juice, and fruit for breakfast followed by Chinese food, yummy lumpia, fresh baked rolls, a meat and cheese platter and dessert for lunch. It was a real treat for all of us—thank you so very much to all the parents who contributed toward this special meal.

Congratulations to our Fifth Grade Girls’ Volleyball team who won the Metro League championship and went undefeated this year (10-0) against St. John, Assumption and OLG!  Our Seventh Grade girls finished as first runner up with a 7-3 record. Great job, girls!  We are still accepting applications for CYO Girls’ Basketball and Boys’ Volleyball. Signup forms are available in the school office. Let’s keep the strong tradition of athletic excellence going at St. Leander School.

We enjoyed showing off our wonderful projects and hard work at Open House on Sunday. Thanks for coming to support our students and our Book Faire.

Congratulations to Kahlil Afariogun, Samantha Garcia, and Kameron Hawkins who placed First, Second and Third respectively in our Science  Faire. Our Seventh Grade winners are Mary Jane Perdiguerra, (First),  Marti Lopez (Second), and Michael Monica (Third). Our judges were very impressed with many of the wonderful experiments and research conducted by our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

Next week, we will send home information about financial assistance for the 2010-2011 school year.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Lynne Kennedy Mullen

Principal

VP Corner – Ms. Amy Cross

I would like to thank all of the parents who helped with the book fair.  We appreciate your time and your patience.  The children had so much fun at the fair.  Happy Reading!

Safety Update:  Please remember that it is a right turn only entering the main school gate after school and a right turn only when exiting the gates after picking up your child.  Please do not double park or walk across the middle of the street.  Let’s set a good example for our children and keep them safe by following the traffic rules and using crosswalks.

Enrollment Information

Enrollment Information is now available in the School Office for new students and incoming Prekindergarten Students.

Upcoming Events

Next week, we will be enclosing a flyer requesting help with our next three events, Kids Night Out, Special Persons’ Day, and our end of the year Family BBQ. We need plenty of hands to make our family activities a success, so we hope lots of parents will sign up to help.

School Board Notes

Our School Board is working hard and is focused on four critical areas:  Facilities (keeping our school buildings updated, clean, and beautiful), Alumni Relations (reaching out to alumni for community-building and support), Enrollment (attracting new students to our school), and Public Relations (getting the message out about the great things going on at St. Leander School). A school parent is helping me develop a marketing strategy for bringing more students to St. Leander School. Help us get the word out about St. Leander School! We are currently accepting applications for the upcoming year.

Valentine’s Day Parties

If your child wishes to share Valentines this year, please remember every child in the class is to receive one. Teachers in our primary grades usually give out class lists for this purpose or instruct parents to have your child only sign his/her name on the card and not address the envelope. Please remember we try to provide healthy snacks for classroom parties and ease off on the candies! Thanks.
