January’s CLEAR Focus: We Are Committed Christians.
Dear Families,
We are in the process of our three-day visitation for our accreditation. Our Visiting Team has reviewed our report and are meeting with students, parents, and teachers in focus groups to learn more about St. Leander School. Thank you to our PTG who provided meals for our team. The team will present their report to us on Thursday after school, and we will share the results with you in our next newsletter.
Yesterday, we hosted the teachers from Assumption, St. John’s, and St. Felicitas to work on our curriculum development. This month, we are reviewing our Math curriculum and will be meeting with all the teachers in the diocese on our Staff Development Day on February 26th.
Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Holy Season of Lent. Our school community gathered for a prayer service and the distribution of ashes this morning. Our teachers will be distributing materials for a Lenten collection for Operation Rice Bowl, a Catholic Relief Services program which helps those in need. We encourage students to make small sacrifices during Lent and use this money to help others. We will collect the boxes after Easter.

Summer School:
Summer school will be held June 21st –July 23rd. All current students and parishioners have first priority for signing up for summer school before we open enrollment to our neighboring Catholic schools and our neighboring community. Applications are now available in the school office.
Safety Update:
Please remember that it is a right turn only entering the main school gate after school and a right turn only when exiting the gates after picking up your child. Please do not double park or walk across the middle of the street. Let’s set a good example for our children and keep them safe by following the traffic rules and using crosswalks. |
Enrollment Information
Enrollment Information is now available in the School Office for new students and incoming Prekindergarten Students. Application packets can also be downloaded from our web site - http://www.stleandercatholicschool.org.
Academic Olympics
Congratulations to Joshua Bernaldo who also participated in the Academic Olympics. I apologize for omitting his name in last week’s newsletter.
Sports Wrap
Last week, we let you know that three of our girls’ volleyball teams advanced to the diocesan level of playoffs. Although they were not victorious over the weekend, we congratulate the players, coaches, and parents for a very successful season. We are so proud of you all!
