From the Principal’s Office

March’s CLEAR Focus:  We Are Lifelong Learners.

Dear Families,

Wow! This Friday marks the end of the second trimester of the school year. Next Wednesday, your child will bring home his/her report card. Please celebrate the growth your child has shown and make some goals for a strong finish. It is most important that we keep our momentum strong as we head toward the end of the school year.

Transitions:  Mrs. del Rosario (Pre-K) will begin her maternity leave next Friday. She will return in August, 2010 for the next school year. We wish her and her husband every blessing on the birth of their first child. We are pleased to welcome Ms. Traci Lupetti as our long-term substitute teacher until the end of the school year. Ms. Lupetti has been working in the PreK classroom this week and next week to facilitate a smooth transition. I know you will join me in welcoming her to our St. Leander School Family.

Mrs. Connie Zane has informed me that she will retire at the end of the school year, after many years of dedicated service to St. Leander School as both parent and teacher. Plans are underway for a going-forth celebration to thank her for her many years of service.

Mrs. Alma Swayne will also be retiring at the end of the school year. Mrs. Swayne has blessed our school community with her service since 2000, and we wish her well as she moves into the next part of her life’s journey.

Times of change, time of blessings.  May your Lenten journey continue with prayer and service. Please see the enclosed flyer about our upcoming Parish Mission. You are encouraged to enrich your Lenten experience with these presentations.

Sincerely,

Lynne Kennedy Mullen

Principal

Summer School:

Summer school will be held June 21st –July 23rd.  All current students and parishioners have first priority for signing up for summer school before we open enrollment to our neighboring Catholic schools and our neighboring community.  Applications are now available in the school office.

Enrollment Information

Enrollment Information is now available in the School Office for new students and incoming Prekindergarten Students.  Application packets can also be downloaded from our web site -  http://www.stleandercatholicschool.org.

Safety Update:

Our Teacher-Traffic Monitors have asked me to compliment our parents on being safer and more patient when picking up and dropping off. Thank you! A gentle reminder: please do not double-park and instruct your kids to hop into or out of your car. This is very unsafe. Even though the weather is not always good, our children’s safety is always more important than a few extra seconds. Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Oops!

Our chocolate flyer stated that there were 50 items in each box of chocolate. There are actually only 40 in each box. We have many students already turning in their money. Thank you for your support of this important fundraiser. More chocolate is available before and after school in the Main Office. There is an updated flyer in today’s packet.

Easter Outreach

We are collecting Easter candy, grass, and baskets to accompany our St. Vincent De Paul Easter Food Baskets. Donations may be sent to the school office. This year, our SVDP Council is planning to provide ninety children/teens with Easter baskets. Thank you for your support.
