From the Principal’s Office
April’s CLEAR Focus: We Are Effective Communicators.
Dear Families,
After much work, thoughtful planning, and lots of prayer, we have established the tuition rates for the upcoming year. We are pleased to be able to inform you that we will continue to offer your children an excellent and comprehensive educational experience including Music, Art, PE, and Computer Instruction under the direction of our outstanding faculty, instructional assistants, and other dedicated support staff in a safe, clean, and well-maintained facility. Because we must always plan for increasing costs, especially in areas we cannot control such as fixed costs which are determined by the Diocese (such as employee salaries and benefits, insurance and School Department per-pupil assessments), we are especially pleased to be able to announce that we are keeping the overall tuition increase to 3.5% for the upcoming year. We have taken into consideration the continuing economic challenges and are counting on the full participation of all our families again next year in our fundraising efforts. There will be a small increase in the registration fee per student due to rising costs, but no change in our Capital Improvement fee or for our Extended Care Program, which remains one of the most reasonable rates in our Diocese.
I have prepared a chart which breaks down payment options for those who choose to pay monthly. Parents who choose to pay over the course of the school year must keep current with their payments or will be required to pay in advance. This year, your registration fee may be broken into two payments if you wish. In next week’s newsletter. Tuition contracts will be included in next week’s family envelope requiring your signature and initials in the proper places.
We thank you for choosing St. Leander School. Increasing enrollment at our school provides evidence of the quality reputation our school continues to grow in our community. We have much to celebrate and be thankful for!
Sincerely,
Lynne Kennedy Mullen
Principal
Financial Obligations
You are reminded that tuition and SLED payments are due in a timely manner. Late payments will result in late fees and your right to participate in school or in our after-school program will be in jeopardy. Notices will be sent to parents behind in their accounts who have not made arrangements with Mrs. Rosas or who have not honored the arrangements they already made and payment is expected before your child will be allowed back to school or to SLED. No child may return to school in the fall if the family owes a balance of tuition, fees, service hours, or fundraising. We sincerely want all our families to stay in our school, but we all must be responsible about our commitments. I am responsible for the budget of the school and must pay our staff and provide the supplies and services necessary for the quality education your children receive. I cannot do this if our families do not make their commitments to the school a priority. I also know that these are difficult times—they affect all of us, and all of us have to make choices that reflect our priorities, even when these choices are difficult. Please join me in doing our very best to keep our school strong. We need everyone to do everything they can to be on time with your payments and fulfill your commitments. Thank you very much. OUR KIDS ARE COUNTING ON YOU!

Strategic Planning Process for the Schools of the Diocese of Oakland
Join your community in imagining the future of our Catholic schools. Make them vital and viable for the generations to come. Please take a 10 minute survey that can be accessed through www.oakdiocese.org and share your ideas about Catholic schools. The survey will be available through the end of the month. Survey is in English and Spanish.
(PS. From Mrs. Mullen—this takes a little longer than 10 minutes, but we want your voice to be heard as the diocese goes forward in its planning. I will give each parent one service hour for completing it. Let me know via e-mail if you complete it at lmullen@csdo.org. Thanks! This offer expires April 30th!
