April’s CLEAR Focus: We Are Effective Communicators.
Weekly Highlights
Survey—last three days !
The Diocese of Oakland wants to hear from you! Friday is the last day to communicate your hopes and vision for the future of Catholic education in the Diocese of Oakland. Please log on to www.oakdiocese.org and take a short survey. Please let me (lmullen@csdo.org) or Kathy Heisick (kheisick@csdo.org) know you have taken the survey and we will give you one parent service hour per parent who completes the survey. Your input matters as the Diocese of Oakland moves forward to create its Strategic Plan which will guide our future. Please make your voice heard!
Grandparents/Special Person’s Day
Because students will be coming and going in the gym on Special Person’s Day, we will open the parking lot in the BIG SCHOOL ONLY for parking. BOTH GATES (Clarke Street and Carpentier Street) will be open for your parking convenience. We will not open the gates to the Little School until our usual time at 2:30 PM. Please return the enclosed invitation letting us know how many from your family will be attending. This will help our parents plan for the seating and the refreshments.
Tuition Contracts
Your 2020-2011 Tuition Contract is included in this newsletter. Please sign and return as soon as possible. In the next few weeks, when we have received your contract, we will provide you with the supply list, calendar, and information for the upcoming year. Thanks!
Progress Reports
Progress Reports come home today! Please review the first half of the trimester with your student and make a plan for finishing strong this year. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
Financial Obligations
You are reminded that tuition and SLED payments are due in a timely manner. Late payments will result in late fees and your right to participate in school or in our after-school program will be in jeopardy. Notices will be sent to parents behind in their accounts who have not made arrangements with Mrs. Rosas or who have not honored the arrangements they already made and payment is expected before your child will be allowed back to school or to SLED. No child may return to school in the fall if the family owes a balance of tuition, fees, service hours, or fundraising. We sincerely want all our families to stay in our school, but we all must be responsible about our commitments. I am responsible for the budget of the school and must pay our staff and provide the supplies and services necessary for the quality education your children receive. I cannot do this if our families do not make their commitments to the school a priority. I also know that these are difficult times—they affect all of us, and all of us have to make choices that reflect our priorities, even when these choices are difficult. Please join me in doing our very best to keep our school strong. We need everyone to do everything they can to be on time with your payments and fulfill your commitments. Thank you very much. OUR KIDS ARE COUNTING ON YOU!

Congratulations, Congratulations, Congratulations!
Alum Sarah Fourby ( Class of 2006) has been awarded the distinguished honor of being chosen to join the National Society of High School Scholars. This prestigious society recognized all-around excellence in high school students.
Sarah has accomplished much so far in her three years at Holy Names High School--academically, athletically, and musically. We are proud of her tremendous successes!
Congratulations to Kaylynn Lum and Jasmine Der in 5th Grade. Both girls gave wonderful performances in a local production of “Alice in Wonderland” over the weekend. What a pleasure to have two such talented performers here at St. Leander School!
Congratulations to Kindergartener Vince Miguel Moreno, whose drawing was selected as the St. Leander Family Festival T-Shirt design for 2010. We look forward to seeing everyone at the festival, dressed in their fabulous t-shirts! Great work, Vince!
